Data Analytics Analyst Job (Detroit, MI, US)

This position will lead many data analytic audit support engagements, special projects, and continuous auditing. This position will work directly with the Audit Teams and GMAS/GM Management to ensure effective analytic support and guidance. This position is responsible for:

- supporting activities of analytics projects and operations within GM Audit Services;

- analyzing complex data, identifying anomalies, and providing the information in a user friendly format;

- performing specific data analytic testing requested by audit teams and management;

- providing recommendations to audit teams on types of analytics and procedures to apply to meet audit objectives;

- communicating data analysis conclusions to audit teams and GMAS/GM management;

- providing training and guidance to audit staff in developing data analysis skills;

- ensuring knowledge development and transfer to both internal and external customer.s;

- maintaining current knowledge of advances in analytic techniques;

- supporting GMAS annual risk assessment and planning activities;

- identifying opportunities for cost recoveries, cost avoidance, and process and control improvements;

- documenting all the processes, procedures, and analysis performed


Basic Required

- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

- 4 years experience applying advanced analytics and data reporting techniques in a large/complex environment

- Exceptional Business Acumen - ability to quickly grasp how a process works, and leverage that knowledge to obtain the team's goals

- Experience in the planning and deployment of analysis and data mining activities

- Experience with analytic & reporting software (e.g., ACL, Tableau, SAS, IDEA, etc.)

- MS Excel expertise - ability to filter data, use vlookups, if then statements, concatenation, pivot tables, nested functions & formulas and create other logic formulas with ease

- MS Access expertise - able to build complex databases from scratch, import data, create and run queries (joining and analyzing data from multiple sources and data tables within the database, select, append, update, delete, crosstab), and troubleshoot errors

- Knowledge of SAP (FI/CO/MM/SD Modules)

- Knowledge of fraud risk factors and schemes

- Proactive, self-starter who is happy working both independently and with a team

- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

- Strong organization skills to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

- Ability to conceptualize and implement new approaches and methodologies

- Articulate in verbal and written communication skills along with strong presentation skills.

- Internal/External Audit Experience

Basic Preferred

- CPA, CA, CIA, CFE, CPIM, CISA and/or other certification

- Understanding of Automotive/Manufacturing Industry

- Understanding of GM processes, functions, and systems

- Experience and skill with multiple databases, applications, and mainframe environments

- Experience evaluating, implementing, and maintaining fraud detection solutions and technology for a large enterprise
