About the General Motors Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) team:



GM has recently announced numerous steps to strengthen its position as a global automotive leader. GM is constructing an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) as one of the cornerstones to achieve this objective. As a member of the EDW team you will play a significant role in helping GM implement one of the largest data warehouses in the world. GM is seeking dynamic individuals who will leverage their industry knowledge and experiences to design, architect, deploy, and manage this data warehouse.



About the role:



The Data Profiler/BI Developer position is a highly technical position playing a key role in the identification of foundational transaction and reference data sources, and the analysis, modeling, development, implementation and validation of production interfaces and reporting in the EDW,



A key responsibility is to work with other key roles such as Business Analysts, Data Architects, Data Modelers, DBAs, etc.



The Data Profiler / BI Developer is responsible for engaging end users and business analysts in understanding business requirements, creating prototype templates, doing data gap analysis, modeling and implementing supporting data structures, designing and developing needed dashboards, reports, frameworks, models and other informational capabilities required to support the reporting/analytics needs of GM.



The Data Profiler / BI Developer must be capable of working under general direction from a Development Leader.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:



- 4 Year IT College Degree/Masters preferred or equivalent work experience.



- 2+ years in business environments in data modeling including profiling and analysis



- 3+ years development experience with BI Reporting tools (e.g. Cognos, Tableau, MSAS, others).



- Experience with SQL and reporting tools.



- Hands-on experience with requirements gathering, design documentation, test case development, system & integration testing, custom off the shelf (COTS)/business intelligence (BI) implementations and systems integration.



- Superior programming skills.



- Ability to troubleshoot execution challenges in complex projects (application, infrastructure, code quality, data and performance) and enable focused corrective actions to make projects successful.



- Ability to comprehend complex technology and business problems.



- Ability to learn new concepts and apply them to solutions.



- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.



Preferred Qualifications:



- Knowledge of GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales business operations / data / systems



- Experience working with SAP, Oracle and DB2 source systems



- Experience working with Oracle’s Goldengate for real-time data integration and Hadoop
