About the GM Global Purchasing and Supply Chain IT team:

The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain IT team provides the technology innovation behind one of the world’s largest digital supply chains,with a network of 182 plants, 650 logistics service providers and 3,100suppliers to build 9 million vehicles and deliver to over 15,000 dealers worldwide. About the role:

The Business Analyst for IT Container Management will partner with internal cross-functional customers to understand business needs,analyze and evaluate various IT solutions, and drive enhancements through the application of systems and technologies that enhance global businessvalue.

This person will act as a liaison between the user community and the IT development and operations support teams. Role requires a high-level of customer focus,and business knowledge to ensure the appropriate business needs are clearly defined, communicated and delivered at or above expectations. Strong IT knowledge of web based technologies is also beneficial to bridge the gap between business requirementsand prototype development of a solution. Strong oral and written communication skills are required, with proven ability to communicate and build relationships cross-functionally.

This role requires technical knowledge of J2EE and Oracle databases as well as global business facing experience. Container knowledge can be obtained leveraging the existing resources in the Container IT group as well as the Container business resources.

This role will work to implement robust integrated operating plan model for all container activities that will interface with the appropriate data with other GM source systems like MGO (Material Requirements),logistics systems, central rate repository, MRP/SAP, and engineering activity. This role will define the appropriate requirements and solutions surrounding Container activities forestimation, planning, program management, daily operations and plant support. Goal is to improve operations,costs, and ability to forecast and measure actual cost per unit.


Minimum Qualifications:

- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering, supply chain management, packaging, information technology or technical discipline

- Supply chain business process, systems and data base experience

- Hands on experience with development of use cases, business requirements, system requirements, test scenario and test cases

- Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with others whose primary language is notEnglish

- Creative problem solver, flexible, proactive, and ability to work in fast paced, ever changing environment

- Ability to organize, prioritize work, meet deadlines,working both with a team and individually

- Ability to develop business process models and create /deliver end user documentation and training

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of IT experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain,Logistics, Container/Packaging Management, Manufacturing and/or 3rd party manufacturing services in the automotive industry

- Understanding of vehicle development life cycle, new product introduction, procurement, and returnable container management

- Knowledge of data structures, data base design, datawarehouses, business intelligence/analytic tools, ETL tools, data modeling and data integration methods

- 1-3 years of experience in J2EE development or similar tools

- At least 2-3 years’ experience with application development including deployment planning, change management, onsite testing, training, and start up support

- IT experience in project planning, project management, and status reporting to business and IT leadership

- Sound understanding of IT fundamentals and technologies pertinent to creating business solutions (software development and testing,architecture, applications, databases, integration, infrastructure andnetworks)

- Experience developing and deploying both custom and COTS solutions globally

- IT experience with global supply chain management,containerization, customs, port processing, consolidation & sequencing centers, security, ocean/rail/truck/air transportation, and industry transportation management systems
