The Global Application Operations team is responsible for all technical aspects of IT Applications.

About the role:

The Data Messaging Middleware Specialist will provide “hands on” delivery performing the day to day operational activities of the data messaging & file transfer solutions. The major responsibilities include:

- Managing the day-to-day monitoring, implementing responsive actions, and reporting on the messaging system

- Performing the initial troubleshooting of messaging system errors and alerts and managing the escalation to Support Engineering, if required

- Executing the Incident Management Process, Leading technical incident calls, and Providing updates to IT Senior Leadership

- Leading the triage, corrective action, communication and reporting for incidents

- Executing Day to Day Operations tasks ("care and feeding")

- Performing 2nd Level Triage and Resolution of User Ticket escalations from the GM Service Desk, Working directly with user if necessary

- Interfacing with other GM Teams and processes – the GM Enterprise Operations Management, the GM Service Desk, and the Operations teams for integrating systems

- Role may include Management responsibility for an Operations team (2-6 Operations Analysts and Technicians)


Minimum Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology bachelor’s program (or higher)

- 8 years in Application Support for Middleware or comparable systems.

- SeeBeyond, Datastage, Sterling Commerce, IBM Integration Bus, configuration and administration experience.

- High level understanding of hardware and application platform architecture HP/IBM/SUN Unix/Linux.

- Strong scripting, design, and automation skills.

- Proven Leadership, capable of taking charge in incident situations

- Experience in IT Operations and Support

- Experience utilizing Information Technology Information Libraries (ITIL)

- Display strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

- Exceptional work ethic with the ability to multi-task under limited supervision in a high paced environment

- Strong logical / analytical thinker. Ability to reason and think logically, apply judgment, solve complex problems, and implement solutions

- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

- Ability to provide 24 hours x 7 days support for critical situations

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in Information Technology

- Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle.

- Performance tuning for Middleware applications.

- Programming Languages: SQL, UNIX Shell Scripting, HTML, PERL, PHP, .NET

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT related studies or equivalent experience required

- Experience leading a small to team which including -

- Organizing work assignments and monitoring team performance

- Providing timely and constructive performance feedback to team members and implementing corrective solutions, when required

- Capturing metrics regarding individual and team performance
