Safety Analytics Technical Analyst

Location: Warren, MI, US

Job Description

Safety Analytics Technical Analyst works directly with Engineers on the Emerging Issues and Product Investigations Teams to review vehicle related records from data sources such as TREAD, warranty, OnStar add other data sources.

Must be very detail oriented and produce high quality and accurate work product


- Perform TREAD database searches in response to leadership inquiries, special data requests and other search requests following established processes and procedures

- Perform data mining and text mining analysis of vehicle data from warranty repair information, customer complaints, OnStar, unstructured verbatim and social media, etc. for support to Product Investigators

- Analyze key database information across all of GM’s data entities in support of Product Investigations

- Assist investigators in evaluating relevant records by thoroughly reading verbatims and categorizing according to specific direction from the investigator

Required Skills

- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in an automotive related field

- Knowledge of automotive terminology

- Knowledge of computer systems and technology

- MS Office suite experience

- Strong organizational skills

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- High level of analytical ability and attention to details

- High level of personal integrity and confidentiality

- Ability to work under a tight, demanding schedule

- Ability and willingness to work in team-focused work environment

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Willingness to learn new skills and methods as needed –continuous learning mindset

Preferred Skills

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience

- Minimum 8 years of experience in an automotive engineering

- GM Engineering or Design experience

- Knowledge of GM systems and processes

- Knowledge of GM warranty system, Technical Service Bulletins, Electronic Service Manuals

- Hands on and mechanically inclined

- Detail oriented with inquisitive nature

- DFSS Green or Black Belt Certification

- Understanding of vehicle safety technologies including design intent, function and intended performance in the field
