Global Connected Consumer Senior Buyer
- Responsible for the purchase of a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services
- Responsible for actively participating in development of product/service/commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional contractual requirements, interface with regional Purchasing, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Manage and execute supplier and operational issues, including but not limited to engineering change management, contract maintenance, parts availability, quality and launch support
- Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Sourcing Process (Request For Quotation, Analysis of Quotation, Source Selection) to establish a capable/competitive global supply base
- Develop and manage suppliers under the guidance of Quality, Service, Technology, and Price strategies
- Analyze and apply appropriate tools to meet objectives, i.e., benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, supplier negotiations, value chain analysis, Tier II sourcing, etc.
- Negotiates price and terms with suppliers
- Lead and execute sourcing packages
- Issues Contracts/Purchase Orders, and appropriate distribution
- Develop an in-depth process knowledge base about the commodity/products, and supplier base, including a thorough understanding of the entire value chain and cost drivers through supplier workshops/discovery days, technical reviews, benchmarking activity, etc.
- Negotiates settlements on rejected or defective materials
- Active participation with Cross-Functional Disciplines
- Develop and execute business plan to meet business priorities
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
- Follows and responds to changing market price trends and availability of materials and services
- Supports activity in the timely delivery of materials and services purchased
- Adheres to Corporate and Unit purchasing and accounting policies and procedures
- Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
- Negotiate engineering changes with suppliers
- Initiate and check contracts created by third parties
- Manage and resolve critical capacity issues
- Review and submits invoices for final disposition and resolve supplier payment issues
- Facilitate resolution of obsolesce/cancellation claims
- Managing commercial supplier launch and supplier delivery issues
- Monitor supplier performance and advise leadership of concerns
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent negotiator, ability to deal with Single Source challenges
- Considerable amount of initiative and a high level of independent judgment
- Be open minded and flexible to work in a non-traditional purchasing environment
- Have a strong customer focus
- High level of analytical ability to solve complex issues
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and with other cultures
- Project management skills
- Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of computer software applications
- Able to understand basic engineering documents
Preferred Requirements:
- Capable of creating and interpreting contracts
- Strong understanding of business models for subscriber based services businesses
- Knowledge of service industry, manufacturing processes and departmental relationships
